Avi-Yonah, Michael
(1904-74)
   Israeli archaeologist and art historian. Born in Galicia, he emigrated to Palestine in 1919. He was professor of classical and Byzantine architecture at the Hebrew University. His writings concern the late-Hellenistic, Roman and Byzantine periods, and the topography of Palestine.
